Kingwood, Texas, known as “The Livable Forest,” was one of the country’s first master planned communities. Located four miles north of Humble along Interstate-59, Kingwood was developed in the late 1960’s. Home prices in Kingwood range from $110,000 to well over $1 million.

Covering more than 14,000 acres and home to over 60,000 residents, Kingwood is divided into at least 20 distinct villages, each with its own neighborhood association. A signature feature of all Kingwood villages are the greenbelts and parks offering scenic trails away from busy streets where residents may walk, jog, bike, or roller blade.

The success of Kingwood’s villages and the addition of new villages guarantee continued commercial growth. Major upscale retailers have discovered Kingwood and there is no shortage of goods and services either in Town Center or the Kingwood Commons. Major grocery store chains as well as smaller specialty shops are also present.

Kingwood students attend public schools in the Humble and New Caney Independent School Districts. There are also a number of fine private schools to choose from.

Kingwood Country Club offers dining, social activities, a water park with five pools, 26 lighted tennis courts, and a spa for both men and women. Clubs of Kingwood incorporates Kingwood Country Club, Deerwood Club, and Island, Forest, Lake, and Marsh private courses. Oakhurst at Kingwood (the subdivision) features an 18-hole course. Other nearby club courses include Walden on Lake Houston, Kingwood Cove, World Houston, and Redstone Golf Club in Fall Creek, home of the Houston Open.
